Roo Code

The Roo Code extension shut down on 15 May 2026. What that means, what to use instead, and how to connect an existing install to NoviaHub.

What to use instead

Roo Code’s docs point to two alternatives: Cline (the project Roo Code originally came from) and ZooCode, a fork started by the Roo Code community. These docs have a guide for Cline, and for Kilo Code, another VS Code extension with similar features:

If you still use it

If Roo Code is already installed in VS Code and you want to keep using it for now, the last version of its docs describes an OpenAI Compatible provider you can point at NoviaHub:

  1. Open Roo Code’s settings.
  2. Set API Provider to OpenAI Compatible.
  3. Set Base URL to https://noviahub.com/v1 (with /v1).
  4. Set API Key to your NoviaHub key; see API keys.
  5. Set Model to a NoviaHub model ID, for example deepseek-v4-flash. It must match Models & Pricing exactly.

According to its docs, Roo Code uses native tool calling exclusively, so models without native tool calling can’t be used.

Because the extension is no longer maintained, these docs can’t help troubleshoot it further. Switch to one of the alternatives above when you can.
